020 3811 5143Stephen specialises in criminal defence work. He conducts all manner of criminal defence work ranging in seriousness from motoring offences to murder.
Stephen provides representation from the outset of a criminal investigation by attending police station interviews of suspects to ensure that their rights are protected from the start of any questioning by the police. Where criminal charges follow Stephen will conduct the case throughout the court process.
He has also provided successful representation in the Court of Appeal where the prosecution were arguing that a sentence imposed in the Crown Court was unduly lenient.
Representation has also been provided for members of the armed forces who are investigated by the Military Police and has provided advocacy services at Bulford Military Court.
He has conducted 100’s of Magistrates Court Trials during the course of his career and after becoming one of the first Solicitor Advocates in the country in 2001 went on to successfully conduct a number of jury trials in various Crown Courts around the country.
Stephen has an in depth knowledge of Road Traffic Law and has assisted many clients to establish exceptional hardship grounds to avoid disqualification.
During the course of his career Stephen has also developed his skills in the area of Anti-Money Laundering and Data Protection Legislation having acted in the commercial sector as both a Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Data Protection Officer.
Stephen was also one of the first Criminal Peer Reviewers to be appointed by the Legal Services Commission to review the way in which other firms conducted criminal litigation ensuring that high standards are always maintained.
Stephen started his career in the law in 1981 always specialising in criminal defence work initially qualifying as a Legal Executive. He went on to qualify as a solicitor in 1991 and a Solicitor Advocate in 2001.
Stephen was born in 1962 educated at Kings Norton Boys Grammar School in Birmingham and taking the Law Society Finals at Wolverhampton University passing with Second Class Honours. His interests include travelling, reading, music and country walks with his two Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
