PRACTICE & BACKGROUND
Nick has a broad range of experience in banking /finance /compliance /regulatory making him particularly well qualified to advise in these and related areas. He has detailed finance /banking /product knowledge as well as how financial institutions work.
Additionally, he is also very experienced compliance and regulatory lawyer, dealing with banking, regulatory and financial systems throughout the World.
He trained at a well-known Magic Circle firm and continued with them in their litigation and banking financial services department.
Following that experience, he worked within the legal dept of Deutsche Bank for 19 years where he specialised in Banking /Financial Regulation /Compliance /Customer Redress /structured products and rose to Managing Director level.
He has had numerous roles during that period eg running structured products legal, client sales, Deputy Head of fixed income legal. Therefore he has multi-jurisdictional experience and is familiar with the laws, regulations and regulators in numerous jurisdictions eg FCA, PRA, FED, BaFIN etc. He was also involved in designing some of the key compliance control systems, in particular, to cover complex transactions and reputations risk.
Nick has handled numerous international high profile litigation and investigations involving trading, sales, and regulatory breaches.
Further whilst Associate General Counsel at HSBC Private Bank, where he dealt with data protection.
