Richard is a Partner in the Property Department.
He has extensive experience in acting for sellers, buyers, landlords and tenants on a wide range of commercial property and residential transactions. Richard heads up the Whetstone Office in North London.
His commercial work includes:
- The acquisition and disposal of offices, restaurants/bars and retail premises and attending to the funding arrangements;
- Attending to the drafting and negotiation of commercial leases for landlords and tenants;
- Advising landlords and tenants regarding the renewal of business tenancies with applications to the County Court.
Recent work has included:
- Acting on the leasehold acquisition of premises for a restaurant owner in Shaftesbury Avenue and a commercial lease in relation to a building in Covent Garden;
- Acting on the freehold sale of an Embassy in Belgravia;
- Negotiating the surrender of a business lease to the Grosvenor Estate;
- Acting on high value Option Agreements for developers and in relation to residential and commercial land.
His residential work includes:
- The acquisition and disposal of high value freehold and leasehold properties and attending to the funding arrangements;
- Acting for landlords and tenants on the grant and disposal of leases relating to maisonettes, purpose built blocks of flats, converted properties and new developments;
- Acting for landlords and tenants on Individual extension of leases and Collective Enfranchisements.
Recent work in this area includes:
- Recent high value work includes the sale of a circa £4 million penthouse apartment in Hampstead and a sale of a flat in St John Wood for £1.3 million;
- Acting on the purchase of new build freehold property in Primrose Hill for circa £1.5 million;
- Acting on the purchase of circa £2 million new build leasehold property in Fulham Riverside;
- Dealing with 3 blocks of lease extensions in Central London;
- A lease extension in Hamilton Terrace, St John’s Wood which involved an application to the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber), a claim at the County Court at Central
- London and dealing with the related settlement;
- A recent acquisition of a freehold in Notting Hill on behalf of tenants which involved both section 5 auction procedure and section 13 notice strategy.
- Richard has previously worked in Hampstead, Central London and the Hertfordshire area.
Aside from conveyancing, Richard has an insolvency qualification and has also worked in the Insolvency sector dealing with the sale of insolvent businesses and dealt with court related work on behalf of administrators and trustees in bankruptcy.
Away from work, Richard enjoys keeping up to date with current affairs. He has also published legal articles on lease extension matters in national journals.
Richard also speaks semi-fluent French.
