UK Licensing Law

Licensing law in England and Wales in the UK is governed by the Licencing Act 2003. This act overhauled UK licensing law and merged several different licencing schemes into one. The act created integrated premises licenses (one license is now needed and not the six that may have been necessary previously) and personal licences.

Under the act, Local Authorities must set up local Licensing Committees to decide on the provision, extension and revocation of licenses.

Each licencing case is different and largely turns on its own facts. If you need advice on any of the following areas, contact our specialist Licensing Law team, based in London, today.

We advise on:

  • Premises Licence
  • Personal Licence
  • Planning
  • Temporary Event Notices
  • Pavement Licences
  • Alcohol Disorder Zones
  • Licence Review (S51 Licence Act 2003)
  • Licences For Playing Music In Public
