Lily Purchase – acquittal secured:
- We’re pleased to share a successful outcome for our client, who was acquitted of assault by beating following a trial at Willesden Magistrates’ Court.
It was alleged that our client had assaulted an ex-partner while living in university halls.
During cross-examination, it became clear that the complainant had unlawfully entered his property and refused to leave. Acting in self-defence, our client removed her from the building.
Nina Reinach of 33 Bedford Row, instructed by Lily Purchase from Lewis Nedas Law, pushed to have a key recording made by the complainant reviewed. The audio made it clear that our client was asking her to leave and that she was the aggressor.
This case highlights the crucial role that full disclosure and thorough analysis of evidence play in achieving justice. The audio recording proved pivotal to the outcome, reinforcing the importance of access to all relevant material at the earliest opportunity.
Thanks to the outstanding work of the defence team, our client can now return to university and move on with his life, with no criminal record.
