Independent inspection exposes poor police service to the shooting community

In her latest article for the February 2026 edition of Gun Trade Insider magazine, LNL’s in-house specialist firearms licensing solicitor Laura Saunsbury examines the key findings from the interim review of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police Firearms licensing unit by HM Inspectorate of Constabularies. The Inspectorate’s report published on 9th January 2026 is a damning indictment of the unit’s poor performance and their over reliance on temporary permits to manage backlogs and delays with renewals of firearm and shotgun certificates.
