A Great Week of Success for Lewis Nedas Criminal Dept

It has been a great week of success for Lewis Nedas’ criminal department:

A young man who was charged with a very serious affray outside an upmarket nightclub was acquitted last week. An order for the full repayment of his costs, which he paid privately, was made by the Court. Jeffrey Lewis instructed the excellent Nigel Lithman QC of 2 Bedford Row Chambers.

Jeremy Ornstin represented an individual who faced a very serious employee fraud who was acquitted.

Siobhain Egan represented a businessman charged with falsifying another’s passport some 19 years ago! The CPS insisted upon proceeding until they finally got around to reading the three page letter of representations sent to them 6 weeks before trial. They decided to discontinue the day before trial. The client will be reimbursed his privately paid costs in full.

News of the World Closes Today

Amongst all the recent reporting about behaviour at the News of the World, it would appear that some of its other victims have also been forgotten.

Siobhain Egan and Penny Muir separately represented individuals indicted 8 years ago for the alleged kidnapping of the Beckham family. As a result of painstaking research, tireless investigation and fearless defence work on our part, the case collapsed. Along the way we learned a great deal about criminal practices at the News of the World and the deficiencies of its management.

Our clients (one of whom was of good character), who had protested their innocence from the very beginning, remained in custody for over 8 months. It cost the British tax payer a huge amount of money and innocent people lost their liberty, yet the News of the World made millions all over the world as a result of that fabricated story.
