Excellent Sentencing Appeal Result

Nicholas Wragg, a solicitor at Lewis Nedas & Co, together with Gerry Mohabir of Great James Street Chambers, successfully appealed a case at the Court of Appeal today. Our client was charged with ABH after CCTV footage showed him pushing a man over and knocking him unconscious. He pleaded guilty in court to a charge of common assault and the jury found him not guilty of the ABH. Unfortunately the judge’s sentence in the view of his lawyers was manifestly excessive (150 hrs community punishment and supervision). The Court was persuaded by Gerry’s representations and substituted an 18 month conditional discharge.
