Laura Saunsbury Commissioned to Write Book

April 12, 2010 by Lewis Nedas

Laura Saunsbury, head of our Firearms Department, has recently signed a contract with Shaw & Sons, one of the UK’s leading legal publishers, to write the new edition of a book entitled Gun Law. The book was last published in 1999 and is now significantly out of date owing to substantial changes in firearms legislation since then. Laura was approached by the publishers to undertake the task due to her experience in dealing with both firearms licensing and criminal offences relating to firearms and ammunition.

The book will be co-written with Nick Doherty, barrister of 4 King’s Bench Walk, with whom Laura regularly works on her firearms cases. Their combined experience should make this a valuable text on the subject.

Whilst the book will undoubtedly be of assistance to lawyers dealing with firearms cases who have limited previous experience in the field, its primary target audience will be members of the public who have an interest in the shooting sports including those who hold or are considering applying for a firearms license, shotgun certificate or registration as a firearms dealer.

It is envisaged the book will be completed and published by the early part of 2011.
